Josh and I didn’t create Plated to merely put our degrees to good use—we aimed to impact and improve people’s lives. Beyond our product, we wanted to direct our efforts to a larger cause that was big enough to be meaningful, but small enough to be solvable.
Enter Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry initiative.
Given the indulgent lifestyles we witnessed firsthand earlier in our corporate careers, discovering that 1 in 5 American kids still don’t get the daily food they need became even more disturbing. It’s unfathomable that in one of the richest countries in the world there are children without adequate access to proper food.
Share Our Strength actively works to solve this problem through No Kid Hungry. The campaign connects children with effective nutrition programs, and educates and empowers families to create healthy, affordable meals at home.
Plated celebrates cooking more and living better, and believes that everyone should share in that enjoyment. We are thrilled to support No Kid Hungry’s mission to end childhood hunger, and as an Evolved Eater, we hope you feel the same, and are willing to get involved.
For the remainder of September, on evenings you’re not committed to cooking, we encourage you to visit restaurants participating in No Kid Hungry’s Dine Out program.
Come October, you can feel even better about cooking with Plated, knowing that your quality kitchen time is helping a child in need. For every 10 boxes shipped, we’re donating $1—the cost of 10 meals provided by the organization—to supply children across the U.S. with access to the healthy food they need.
Stay tuned here for updates on how our efforts are performing, along with more details about exciting ways we’ll be continuing to partner with No Kid Hungry.
