Strengthening Our Organic Sourcing Commitment
As part of our ongoing dedication to make thoughtful sourcing decisions, we’re strengthening our commitment to source certain ingredients organically.
Environmental Working Group, we’ve prioritized stricter organic sourcing standards for the worst pesticide offenders. This means that the likes of baby spinach, Gala apples, dinosaur kale, and red bell peppers in your box—among other produce—are sourced from USDA-certified organic farms whenever possible.
According to the USDA, the distinction from conventional produce is attributed to “farming methods that preserve the environment and avoid most synthetic materials, such as pesticides and antibiotics.” Organic farms and processors that meet the USDA’s standards “preserve natural resources and biodiversity, support animal health and welfare, provide access to the outdoors so that animals can exercise their natural behaviors and do not use genetically modified ingredients.” And that’s definitely an endeavor we can support.
As part of our ongoing dedication to make thoughtful sourcing decisions, and our desire to send you quality ingredients we’d want to see in our own kitchen, we hope that you are happy with the change.
