Introducing Mozz Tots: The Best Spin on Mozzarella Sticks

What happens when you take the compact shape of a tater tot and combine it with the cheesiness of a mozzarella stick? Pure mozz tots magic.

Crispy, cheesy, melty, salty, savory—when it comes to mozzarella sticks, what’s not to love? In an effort to kick things up a notch, we’re pleased to introduced our take on mozzarella sticks, which we’re affectionately calling Mozz Tots. What happens when you take the compact shape of a tater tot and combine it with the cheesiness of a mozzarella stick? Pure magic. Take a look at the video above and the recipe below to make this savory snack at home.

INGREDIENTS
1 package string cheese (6 sticks)
2 cups panko breadcrumbs
¼ bunch fresh parsley
2 cup flour
2 eggs
canola oil
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
salt
pepper
marinara sauce

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut mozzarella sticks into 4 pieces each. Finely chop parsley. Arrange 3 shallow bowls each with flour, eggs, and panko and parsley mixed together. Season each with salt and pepper.

2. Dip mozzarella in flour, then egg, then panko mixture. Arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for 10 minutes.

3. Meanwhile, heat canola oil in a medium high-sided pan. Enough that it’s about 2-inches deep. When the oil reaches 375 degrees, add the mozz tots and fry until golden brown and crisp, turning occasionally, about 2 minutes.

4. Remove to a paper towel lined plate and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Serve with marinara sauce.
