Broiled Apples
with Sage & Gruyere

Showcase everyone’s favorite fall fruit with this super-easy appetizer: Thinly-sliced apples paired with gruyere cheese and sage leaves are a delicious mouthful of flavor.

Broiled Apples with Sage and Gruyere

  • 1 apple, cut into 16 ¼-inch thick slices
  • 16 sage leaves
  • 6 ounces gruyere, cut into 16 slices
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • Sea salt

Heat the Broiler

Heat the broiler to high, and position the rack to be about 4 inches from the heat source. Grease a baking sheet with olive oil and lay the apple slices on top. Top each slice with a sage leaf, and a slice of gruyere.

Broil and Serve

Broil until the cheese is bubbly, about 2 minutes. Let cool for a minute or two, then transfer to a serving platter with a spatula, sprinkle with sea salt, and serve.
