Welcome to Toast and Talk! Each month, we’ll sit down for a conversation with chefs, restaurateurs, business owners, and fellow foodies who inspire us and love food just as much as we do.

Cake in a jar—genius, right? That’s the idea behind Dani Beckerman’s JARS by Dani. What started as a way to share her love of baking and create something as delicious as it was beautiful has turned into a nationwide dessert obsession.

What is your favorite toast?
Avocado scrambled egg toast! Some sort of delicious fresh multi-grain bread, toasted. Avocado cut in chunks and sprinkled with sea salt. And then very slow-cooked scrambled eggs on top. If I’m feeling fancy, I’ll sprinkle on some wasabi roe.

What’s your go-to weeknight meal to cook at home?
One-pan salmon and veggies in the oven.

What’s your favorite restaurant to go to when you’re celebrating something special?
Anywhere with an amazing omakase!

What’s your favorite food destination and why?
Tel Aviv. Isreali breakfasts are my absolute favorite.

If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have one food, what would it be?
Raw fish. I could eat sushi every day for every meal and be very happy.

Sweet or salty? A combo of the 2!
Burger or hot dog? Hot dog
New York or Chicago style pizza? NYC
Soup or salad? Salad
Chocolate or vanilla? Very hard. Can I get a swirl of both?
