St. Patrick’s Day Dessert: Dark Chocolate Guinness Cake with Bailey’s Buttercream

Dark Chocolate Guinness Cake with Bailey’s Buttercream

Pinterest has been serving up quite the inspiration for St. Patrick’s Day themed desserts, as it does for all major holidays. We’ve come across creamy lime squares, margarita cupcakes with lime frosting, thin mint fudge brownies and pretzels covered with Hershey’s Kisses and green M&Ms.

Inspired yet? (Don’t forget to follow our Pinterest page for major holiday inspiration.)

This delicious dark chocolate layer cake is boosted by a cup of Guinness Extra stout beer that takes it over the edge. At the Plated office, we generally enjoy beer, so we may be biased – but we think this cake is delicious.

Give this quick recipe a try and tell us if you agree in the comments! Thanks again to Sasha from Global Table Adventure for this delicious recipe.

Want green frosting? Use a toothpick to insert a little bit of the green coloring at a time into the prepared frosting and whip together, adding and mixing until your desired color.

GENERAL TIP: As is said about cooking with wine, never cook with a beer you wouldn’t drink.
