With 30 seconds between perfect and overcooked, even eggs can be less than scrumptious if not cooked with care. While visiting De Gustibus cooking school, Chef Gabe Thompson shared his best easy recipe for cooking the perfect fried egg.
He starts with a little butter and olive oil in a small fry pan. He uses butter for flavor and olive oil because it is good for cooking at higher temperatures.
Crack the egg into the pan.
Here’s the trick: instead of finishing the egg in the pan and possibly burning it, pull it off the heat and finish it in the oven for an evenly cooked consistency.
It’s perfect paired with polenta and mushrooms!
