Sure, we’ve been on a dessert-obsessed journey lately (read: cookie week), but we’ve officially entered January territory. For some, that means cutting back all together, but here at Plated, we have a harder time, especially when it comes to dessert. There are ways to compromise, though! From an oh-so-crumbly cobbler to a dessert pizza, we’ve got you covered with six delicious, fruit-forward desserts that feel a little less decadent than pecan pie.

If you’re looking for a simple, beautiful fruit-forward dessert, we’ve found your match. This flakey blood orange tart is a cinch to make. Currently in season, oranges can be picked up at any local store… and the rest of the ingredients are probably already in your pantry and fridge.
Pizza doesn’t stop at lunch or dinner. Think of a perfectly arranged fruit salad atop a slightly sweet dough, and you’ve got yourself a fruit pizza.
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 3/4 sticks unsalted butter, softened
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2/3 cups ricotta
2/3 low fat plain yogurt
assorted fresh fruit cut into slices
Preheat oven to 350F.
Beat the butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar together in a large bowl until fluffy, 3–5 minutes. Add vanilla and eggs and mix until combined. Add the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt) and mix until just combined, about 30 seconds. Chill the dough.
Roll chilled dough into one big cookie and place on a round baking stone. Sprinkle with 2-3 tablespoons sugar. Bake for 17-20 minutes. Let cool; chill in fridge.
Mix ricotta and yogurt, spread across dough. Chill again to set and thicken topping. Top with fresh fruit and a drizzle of honey. Cut into slices and serve!

Lemon berry parfait
If you’re looking for an easy, but oh-so-fresh treat, you’re in luck. This parfait is made with bright berries and layered with lemon-infused homemade whipped cream. Just fold in the lemon mixture to taste, depending on your love for tartness. And, definitely add in blueberries if you can (they’re magical with lemon).
