Plated’s mission—to help people across the U.S. cook more and live better—goes far beyond our product, toward larger causes that impact the lives of others beyond our customers. We believe that everyone should be able to share in the enjoyment of both cooking and eating well.
Living and working in New York, we are quite privy to the issue of excessive over-indulgence experienced across wealthier cities and companies. Last year, we learned some hard, cold facts about childhood hunger that were deeply distressing, yet, we were encouraged by the chance to contribute to a cause that Plated holds near and dear: the importance of nutrition, cooking, and eating.
Did you know that one in five kids in America still don’t get the daily food required to survive? That’s more than 13 million children. Not only do these children fight to find food, they have little to no idea of what is nutritious or how to cook. One of the solutions to this long-term struggle comes from Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign, which connects children with effective nutrition programs, while teaching and empowering families to prepare healthy, affordable meals at home.
Last fall, Plated raised $10,000 for the campaign—thank you again to all who helped us reach our goal. We are thrilled to be once again supporting No Kid Hungry’s mission to end childhood hunger, and hope you’ll get involved and join us in our efforts. Here’s how you can participate:
Every Plated box you purchase between December 25–31 will count towards our goal of providing at least 100,000 meals to children and families in need. If you’re unable to purchase a box during this time, you can donate directly to No Kid Hungry. You can even do both, if you’re feeling extra charitable.
