If coffee and lemonade sound like the last two things on earth that you’d pair together, yeah, but also no. These two seemingly disparate flavors work surprisingly well together—well enough that companies have started bottling the stuff and calling it citrus coffee. Making your own is crazy easy, so the next time you’re in the mood for a fruity frappé, try this recipe.
1 cup strong coffee or cold brew concentrate
½ cup lemonade
Splash of sparkling water
Fill a glass with ice. Pour the coffee and lemonade over the ice. Stir together, then top with a splash of sparkling water and lemon slice. Serve and enjoy.*Note: Because the ice and lemonade will dilute the coffee, you’ll want to use extra strong coffee here. If you’re using a french press, add four tablespoons of coffee for every six ounces of water.
Start your morning right with a savory-sweet treat that’ll just make you feel good: the turmeric latte. Otherwise known as golden milk, this spicy drink takes things up a notch with its powerful ingredients—turmeric, coconut oil, cinnamon, and ginger all deserve a new spot in your morning routine.
1 shot espresso
1 cup unsweetened almond or coconut milk
1 heaping tablespoon fresh turmeric root, grated
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger root
2 teaspoons coconut oil
Honey to taste
Gently warm the almond or coconut milk in a small saucepan. Do not boil. Add turmeric, ginger and cinnamon. Mix with coffee. Next, combine the coconut oil with the mixture and gently heat together until melted. Use a wire whisk or immersion blender to create a foam. Continue to stir until frothy and heated through. Stir in honey to taste. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
When you can’t decide between having a refreshing afternoon spritzer or your second (or fifth) cup of coffee, this should be your go-to drink. The bright flavors of tonic complement the bold notes in espresso, without either ingredient overriding the other’s subtle flavors. Plus, it has bubbles. It’s like the champagne of the caffeine world.
1 shot medium-light espresso
4 ounces tonic water, chilled
1 piece orange peel, pith removed
Add the chilled tonic water and the orange twist to a small glass. Gently pour the espresso over the back of a spoon into the lowball glass so that the coffee floats on top of the tonic water. Serve immediately.

If you don’t have Averna amaro (a bitter Italian liqueur commonly used as a digestif), you can substitute with another bitter liqueur such as Aperol – or, omit entirely, if you prefer.
3.5 ounces stout
2 ounces iced coffee
1.5 ounce Averna amaro
Coarsely ground sea salt
1 old fashioned glass
In a shaker with ice, pour iced coffee and Averna amaro and stir. Place 1 large ice ice cube into old fashioned glass. Pour mixture from shaker into glass slowly. Pour stout slowly over mixture. Stir to combine gently. Sift cocoa powder over large ice cube (or several small cubes if you don’t have a large ice mold). Sprinkle sea salt over ice cube.
Let’s clear up probable confusion: This drink has more in common with a milkshake than typical cold brew. Australian iced coffee is very much a dessert rather than a caffeinated pick-me-up—it’s made with chilled espresso, vanilla ice cream, and milk. And, it’s not a true Australian Iced Coffee without a swirl of whipped cream on top.
2 small scoops ice cream
1/2–3/4 cold brewed coffee
A splash of milk of choice
Place the ice cream into a tall glass and top with the coffee. Add a dash of milk. Top with whipped cream. Serve with a spoon and a straw.
