You may not realize it but, when it comes to makin’ bacon, there’s more than one way to do it.
Of the following, our favorite is the first way, but maybe you have your own particular bacon strategy. Check out this list and let us know how you like to cook up the king of all breakfast foods.
1. Bake Bacon in the Oven
Put the bake in bacon with this method, as described by our very own Chef Elana. Baking bacon helps ensure you get evenly cooked, golden brown bacon that isn’t fully coated in grease. Here’s what you need:
- aluminum foil
- a sheet tray with a lip to catch the grease
- a cooking rack that fits into your sheet tray
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees and line a sheet tray with aluminum foil (to make clean-up a breeze). Place a cooling rack on top of the foil-lined sheet tray. Lay the bacon on top of the rack, and leave a little space in between each strip. Bake for 15 minutes on the middle rack of your oven. The bacon should be golden and crisp when it’s done. Finally, carefully pull out the tray, rack, and bacon—and serve!
Pro tip: Want an extra-sweet treat? Brush the bacon with maple syrup halfway through cooking.
2. Fry Bacon On the Stove
Lay the bacon strips in a cold pan before turning on a low to medium-low flame. When it starts to buckle and curl, use a pair of tongs to turn over the slices. Keep flipping and turning the bacon so that it browns evenly and cook to desired crispiness. Lay the cooked pieces on a paper towel to drain.
3. Cook Bacon in the Waffle Iron
Cook the bacon in the waffle maker for about four minutes. If it’s not yet at the color or crispiness you like it, give it another couple of minutes.
