Story

Black Forest cake is a German dessert that traditionally flavors chocolate cake with kirschwasser, or cherry liqueur, then layers on whipped cream, sour cherries, and chocolate. Here, Chef Liz transforms the decadent treat into cookies. She starts with a sweet cocoa dough, then folds in chopped dark chocolate and dried cherries. Sliding the dough into the freezer helps it to harden slightly before it's rolled into balls, baked, and drizzled with more melted chocolate for good measure.
