Where they come from

Quality

The best way to get restaurant-quality food is to use the same suppliers restaurants use. So, that's what we do. We've worked hard to build relationships with the same reliable, quality-controlled companies that supply top-notch ingredients to some of the finest restaurants in America. Want to get these varied, high quality ingredients on your own? Well, you'd have to drive to the farm to do it!

Location

By using mostly local suppliers and limiting the imported ingredients, we protect the environment and support American farmers.

Seasonality

Get maximum flavor in your meals with our in-season ingredients. Not only that, but using in-season ingredients has positive environmental benefits as well.

What's in them

Fruit and vegetables

Each Plated meal contains a generous helping of fruits and vegetables essential to a healthy diet. Since the fruits and veggies we put in each box are locally sourced direct from farmers, your Plated greens are fresher than what you’d buy at a grocery store. A Plated box is bursting with essential vitamins and other valuable nutrients, so it’s good for your taste buds and your well being.

Fat

You don't have to worry about high-fat meals with Plated. Our specially curated recipes are required to have a low saturated fat content. In fact, many of our recipes include super-good-for-you unsaturated fats like avocados and nuts.

Calories

Our typical Plated entrees are a heart-healthy 600-800 calories: flavorful and filling, but not gluttonous enough to guilt-trip you to the gym.

Protein

Every Plated box always includes a filling and flavorful protein source like meat, dairy, legumes, or nuts.

Carbohydrates, dietary fiber and whole grains

While some of our recipes do focus on pasta, rice and other carbohydrate-rich ingredients, we always make sure that the carbohydrate source is a whole grain option that is full of dietary fiber.

Vegetarians

While we do not yet deliver our vegalicious meals, we will launch the veggie option soon!

Allergies and Intolerances

Unfortunately we are currently unable to guarantee our meals are free of allergens. But because a Plated shipment comes with unprocessed, individually packaged ingredients, many of our customers who cook for family with allergies simply omit or replace the allergen with another ingredient.

We make it easy for you to cook a fantastic gourmet meal in thirty minutes or less. Our mission at Plated is to demystify cooking by providing you with a convenient and nutritious way to discover your inner gourmet chef. Save time, explore amazing cuisine, and cook something extraordinary.

Plated features a variety of new chef-designed meals each week. Choose the meals you want and order online – no need to grocery shop or recipe hunt (we do it for you). We deliver exceptional ingredients to your door. Everything is perfectly portioned – from delicious cuts of meat to freshly ground spices – so you don’t need to worry about measuring and waste. All meals are delivered with high definition step-by-step instructions so even the most novice cook can prepare a delicious meal that will have diners coming back for seconds. The minimum order in any week is 4 plates - 2 portions of 2 meals or 4 portions of 1 meal. Or pre-order extra plates to use over the next 30 days and save up to $5 per meal! Plans start at just $10 per meal.
Definitely not. We are not trying to lock you into anything. Order a minimum of four plates as often as you like, or sign up for our pre-order packages if you want to save even more!
It’s easy! Create an account using your email address, login to the Plated website, and go to Menu. Sign up for a minimum of four plates - 2 portions of 2 meals or 4 portions of 1 meal - or whatever pre-order package works best for you. You can order up until Monday at noon for Tuesday delivery, although things do sell out so order early!
Each plate is for 1 portion. Buy only as many plates as you think you'll use - no commitment and no recurring charges, ever!

Plated Meal Plans

Of course! Starting every Monday afternoon, Plated serves a new menu of original chef-designed recipes. You can choose to order one, two, three, four, or five of the week’s meals. Each plate is designed to serve one person. And don't forget, the minimum order size each week is four plates!
Our smallest offering is four plates. Each plate is designed to serve one person. At a minimum, you can order 4 plates of one meal, or 2 plates of two meals. If you’re looking for more delicious home gourmet dining each week, you can order three meals, four meals or five meals. The more plates you order, the better the value!
We do not currently have an individual plan, but we can recommend signing up for the 2 plate option. At a minimum, you can order 4 plates of one meal, or 2 plates of two meals. Many of our Plated customers cook extra portions to bring to work for lunch. Leftovers never tasted so good!

Order this as many times as you want. If you’ve fallen in love with your Plated dinners (and we know you will!), we’ve built the pre-order system to allow you to save even more time and money. Sign up for whatever package makes the most sense to you – the more meals you pre-order, the more money you save. But don't forget, pre-ordered plates expire 30 days after purchase. In order to purchase the freshest possible meat and produce, we have to plan ahead with our farmers and local producers, so we ask that you use your plates within 30 days of purchase. Unused plates will not be refunded or carried over. Please call or email us if you have any questions!
Vegetarian meals are on the way! For now, several of our options are easily made meat-less for our vegetarian customers. Call or email us to make requests!
Gluten-free and diabetic meal options are currently in development! Until then, Plated chefs with special dietary restrictions can take advantage of our pre-portioned ingredients, which easily allow for omission of any restricted foods.

Plated Delivery

Plated is currently available on the east coast from Washington DC to Boston, but we are expanding nationally over the next year. To confirm that we can deliver to your address, signup and take a look at the zip code checker that follows This Week's Menu. If we don’t yet deliver to your area, please leave your email or contact us for more information!
Once you sign up as a customer, you can expect to receive your Plated box on Tuesday between noon and 8pm.
Most Plated customers are not at home during the day, so we follow your instructions on where to leave your Plated box. Some customers ask us to leave their Plated box in front of their door, while others prefer that we take their box to a neighbor's house or leave it with their building's doorman. All you have to do is leave us delivery instructions when you are checking out, and our friendly drivers will do their best to accommodate your request.
We've worked hard to ensure that our Plated boxes will protect your ingredients regardless of the weather. Our specialized delivery network brings you your food in a custom made biodegradable, 100% recyclable box that keeps your food even fresher than if you bought it at the store. As long as you are able to transfer your meals to your fridge that evening, your Plated delivery will remain fresh for the normal amount of time you should expect from fantastic food.

Just the basic pantry staples: milk, eggs, salt, pepper, olive oil, vegetable oil, and butter. We handle the rest!
Every meal is designed to be cooked in thirty minutes or less, even for the novice chef!
Absolutely! Our recipes are created using ingredients that stay fresh long enough for you to enjoy them in the week you have received them. Any time we include ingredients that need to be used sooner rather than later (such as fish) we'll let you know to prepare them at the beginning of the week.
Cooking with fresh ingredients is infinitely better than relying on frozen meals or fast food fare. Locally sourcing only the best produce, spices and meats, Plated chefs and nutritionists curate meal plans on a weekly basis so you can eat healthy, well-balanced meals and relax and cook your heart out!

We made the decision to go local instead of “organic." We work with the best people in food to determine where and from whom we should be sourcing our produce, meat, poultry, dairy and spices. Almost all of our food is sourced from within 250 miles of New York, and most of our proteins are organic, free range, or hormone free. It's hard to make that claim for everything we send you (especially for some spices and sauces). However, as we get bigger, it is a top priority for us to continue to seek out as many family-owned farms and businesses with small production runs as possible. We work with the awesome folks at Farmers Web to source top shelf produce, meat and poultry directly from local farmers, and we look forward to expanding our relationship with them. We will also keep bringing you stories and photos from our farmers and partners. After all, getting to know your food is half the fun of Plated!
Some times of the year it’s impossible to fish locally. When that is the case, we follow a mantra of Sustainable Seafood. What’s that? It's seafood that is managed and fished in ways that support healthy fish populations and healthy ocean environments so that we can all enjoy seafood for years to come. We work with sustainability experts at Blue Ocean Institute, and use their science-based rankings to determine what seafood we offer to you.
